Who Is Jermaine Jefferson? The Florida Grower, Author, and Personal Trainer Behind GrowFitFL

Grow Food NOT Lawns.

My name is Jermaine Jefferson, and I grow food right here in beautiful West Central Florida. If you landed on this page, you probably watched one of my videos, read one of my books, or somebody at the feed store told you about the fella teaching regular people how to turn a plain yard into a year round grocery store. Pull up a chair. Let me tell you who I am, where I come from, and what I have spent the last year of my life building for you.

Who is Jermaine Jefferson

I am a Florida grower, the author of three books, and a personal trainer with eleven years of real experience plus four more as an athletic trainer. I run GrowFitFL, a brand built on one simple idea. You can feed your family, get your body strong, and take back your health without a big budget or a big backyard.

Three things sit at the heart of everything I teach. Herbs. Personal training. Southern gardening. I have spent a lifetime getting good at all three, and I put them under one roof so you do not have to chase answers across a hundred websites that were never written for our heat and our soil. When folks ask me what I do, I keep it plain. I help people grow food NOT lawns, and I help them get fit while they do it.

From Cleveland, Ohio to the Florida heat

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. The Midwest made me. Cold winters, hard ground, short growing seasons, and people who work for what they have. That upbringing taught me discipline before I ever knew it had a name.

Then I came to Florida, and the whole game changed. The sun does not quit here. The summer can cook a tomato plant by noon and drown it by supper. Most gardening books on the shelf are written for places with an easy summer and a real winter, which means they are close to useless once you cross into the Deep South. My heart lives in two places now, Florida and the Midwest, so I understand both climates in my bones. I know what survives a Cleveland freeze and what shrugs off a Lakeland August. That is a rare thing, and it is the reason my advice actually works where you live.

Twenty five years in the dirt, and a deep love for herbs

I have more than twenty five years of gardening experience. Ten of those years have been spent growing food in Florida, with the last six dialed in right here in Central Florida, zone 9b sliding into 10a. That is a long time to make mistakes, learn from them, and figure out what truly holds up in this climate.

Herbs are where a lot of my heart sits. There is something honest about a plant that feeds you, heals a little, and asks for almost nothing in return. I have grown and studied herbs for years, the bulletproof ones that laugh at our humidity like Cuban oregano, society garlic, Mexican tarragon, and garlic chives, right alongside the rosemary and sage that need sharp drainage to make it through a wet Florida summer. When I tell you a plant will work, it is because I have killed a few learning why, and then grown a hundred more the right way.

The trainer in GrowFitFL is not a gimmick

The FIT in GrowFitFL is there for a reason. Before the garden took over my life, I spent eleven years as a certified personal trainer and four years as an athletic trainer. I learned how to build a program. How to read a body, set a goal, and write the work that gets someone from where they are to where they want to be, whether they have a single dumbbell or a full gym.

I believe growing food and getting strong are the same fight. Both are about self reliance. Both are about doing the small hard thing today so your future self has options. So I never split them apart. When I teach you to grow your own groceries, I also want to help you build the body to enjoy them.

The Members Hub: a full year building the thing I always wished existed

For over a year now, I have been head down building the Southern Grower's Hub, and it is the work I am most proud of. I did not want another pile of videos. I wanted a real home where a person could change their life one day at a time. Every single feature in it earned its place by passing one test. Will this actually help somebody save money on groceries by growing their own food? If the answer was no, it did not go in.

Here is what I built it to do.

For the beginner who feels lost. I wanted an app where someone who has never grown a thing can open it up, follow a daily plan, and get results. No guessing. No standing in the yard wondering what to do next. You follow the plan, you do the field action for the day, and you watch your garden change in front of you. The whole point is that you never feel like you are in over your head, because the next right step is always sitting there waiting for you.

For the experienced grower who wants more. If you already know your way around a garden bed, I packed the Hub with the tools you need to grow more food and take on bigger challenges. Everything is in one spot instead of scattered across notebooks and bookmarks. You can plan bigger, push your property harder, and finally treat your yard like the producer it can be.

For the grower ready to earn. Once your beds are pumping out more than your family can eat, I built tools right into the Hub to help you sell that surplus and put a little money back in your pocket. Growing your own food is a win. Getting paid for the extra is a bonus, and I made it simple to do.

For your body, not just your beds. The Hub carries a built in training plan that adapts to what you actually have at home. Bodyweight in the living room, a few dumbbells in the garage, or a full gym membership, the app meets you where you are. It builds custom workouts on the foundation of my eleven years of programming knowledge, aimed at whatever your goal is. We get fit while we grow our own groceries. That is the GrowFitFL way.

For your people. I believe community is one of the few things proven to help folks live longer and live better. So the Hub has a community page where members, if they choose, can share their wins, talk things through, help each other past a rough patch, and make a few like minded friends along the way. Nobody is forced into it. It is there for you when you want it.

I took more than a year to build a membership that helps you in every area of your life at once. Self reliant. Healthy. Fit. And I am not done. More features are on the way, because I want this to be the best membership a person could own. If you want to see it for yourself, there is a seven day free trial with no card required at members.growfitfl.com, and it includes a full course so you can feel what it does before you ever spend a dime.

Three books, written with my whole heart

People who know me know I write the way I talk. Straight, honest, and from a real place. I have written three books, and each one came out of a different season of my life.

Grow Food NOT Lawns was my first, and it is the one that started all of this. I wrote it in the middle of deep grief after losing my father, and I vented onto those pages in a way I never expected. The heart of the book is simple. I want to inspire people to grow food so they can get healthier, so that maybe your own loved ones get a little better and you get more good years with them by changing a few things in your backyard. I share how I started gardening. I share my honest advice on raising kids who are respectful, disciplined, hard working, and healthy. I even threw in some garden workouts. And the final chapter walks you step by step through turning your yard into a food forest. If you need one book to spark a movement in your life, this is it.

The Florida Perennial Garden was written out of pure love for my channel members and for perennials themselves. I wrote it sitting in my own garden every day for two months, looking at every plant, remembering why I grew it and what made it special to me. Plant once, harvest forever. That book is me sharing my love of gardening with you, one plant at a time.

Discipline: What Nobody Wants to Hear is my most recent, and it is the most personal. Of all the traits I have worked on over the years, discipline is the one my family and friends know me for. It was not always that way, and that is exactly what I share. You learn about me, Jermaine Jefferson, my upbringing, my history, and the single day that turned my whole life around. I pass on the lessons my mentors gave me and the daily habits that changed everything for me. I wrote it to honor my father, and writing it brought out tears, old memories, and stories I had buried. If there is one book of mine that can help turn a life around, it is Discipline.

Family, faith, and the life behind the brand

None of this happens alone. I am married to my wife Toni, who runs her own channel called RootedinJs, and together we are raising four kids on the same land where we grow our food. We are building a home that feeds itself and a family that knows how to work, how to rest, and how to lean on faith when things get hard. Everything I teach, I am living right here with my own people watching.

I am faith anchored and I am disciplined, and I try to be the same man on camera that I am at the dinner table. The goal was never to grow the biggest channel. The goal is to help families become self reliant, healthy, and strong, and to leave my kids something better than a tidy lawn.
