Frequently asked questions

Do I need any gardening experience?

No. The challenge starts with picking your spot and counting your sun hours. Every task explains what to do, why it matters, and how long it takes. Most daily lists take ten to twenty minutes.

What zones does it cover?

USDA zones 8a through 11b. That covers the wider Gulf South, North Florida, Central Florida, and South Florida. Your plan is personalized to your exact zone, so a grower in Pensacola and a grower in Miami see different dates and different crops.

Can I do this on a patio or balcony?

Yes. Tell the challenge you grow in containers and every crop list filters to what works in pots. Containers on a sunny driveway will outgrow beds in the shade every time.

What happens if a hurricane comes?

The Hurricane Ready module is pinned through November 30. You prep your kit and your move list on a calm day in August, and the calendar keeps it checked. Storm season is part of Southern gardening, so it is part of the plan.
